How to read the comparison
- QS / NIRF / Times Higher Ed — lower number = better rank. Indian universities surface NIRF + IIRF + The Week + India Today (India-specific ranking bodies); international ones use QS + THE.
- Acceptance rate — lower = more selective. Below 10% is exceptional. Above 30% is broadly accessible.
- Placement rate — % of graduates placed within 6 months. Above 90% is strong, below 70% is weak.
- Payback years — median across top careers at that institution. Under 2 years = fast, 2–4 = moderate, over 4 = long.
- Greenest cell per row wins. When you compare across countries, factor visa + cost-of-living in addition to the numbers shown.
What to do after you've picked a winner
Open the winning university's full page (link in the table header) for the deeper detail — alumni, scholarships, careers, admissions. Then drop your rank into the JoSAA predictor (Indian context) or the payback calculator to validate it against your specific situation.
Data sources per row: QS World University Rankings 2025, Times Higher Ed 2025, NIRF 2024, IIRF 2024, The Week / India Today 2024, official university disclosures for acceptance and placement rates. Payback derived from /api/role-detail/<id>/compare using the centralised J2E payback formula.
